The weather is starting to turn, so we've been trying to enjoy as many fall activities as we can before it gets too cold. We spent this past weekend doing just that.
Saturday afternoon we headed up to Exploration Acres near Purdue to meet some friends. We browsed the gift shop, explored the corn maze, and took a hay ride through the pumpkin patch. It was a bit windy, but it was still a great fall day and we had a lot of fun.
After that it was on to Nine Irish Brothers for dinner and a few pints (they have the best Guinness around). This is another of our favorite places at Purdue and we hadn't been in awhile, so it was definitely a good treat. From there we went back to our friend's apartment for Ticket to Ride and Euchre - Leslie pulled off the Ticket to Ride victory and the two of us pulled ahead early in Euchre, fought off a comeback, and ended up winning. Our competitive side had a good night.
Some Intense Board Gaming Going Down |
We then used Sunday afternoon to do a little pumpkin carving. It was nice to be able to do it in the garage instead of outside. Actually, I think the garage is one of my favorite parts of the house. No more ice on the windshield in the mornings, no more seeing my breath on the way to work, no more birds pooping on it in the summer... it's great. But yeah, pumpkins. I went with a ghost and the traditional jack-o-lantern while Leslie make a cat and an owl. We did pretty well, considering we didn't trace out patterns or use fancy tools or anything (although I will be sure to make these before next year). We'll be proud to have these outside our house for Halloween (unless it rains).
And there you have it, our fun fall-y weekend. We'll be back Friday with a house project update (unless things don't go according to schedule). Thanks for reading! And here's a cat picture, since we haven't posted any for a bit.
