Hello! We're Jeremy and Leslie and welcome to our blog. We bought a house in Avon, IN and thought that this blog would be a good way to keep friends and family (and anyone else who finds this interesting) up to date on our lives as we work to make this house a home.
A Little About Us:
We met in high school in our hometown of Fort Wayne, IN - Leslie was a sophomore and Jeremy was just a wee little freshman. In the early spring of 2006 we started dating and stayed together through the rest of high school and college. We got engaged in July of 2011, the summer before Jeremy's senior year at Purdue, and were married in September of 2012. Since then we've been living in the Indianapolis area and loving life.
It's probably hard to believe, since we're so cool and all, but we're both actually huge nerds. We like The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and all that other good stuff. Even the title of the blog comes from one of our favorite books:

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort. We're both really into music and each play a few instruments. We also have an extensive library of books, music, movies, and Mr. Potato Head dolls. Some of our favorite things to do are watch TV shows together (our favorite of which is Jeopardy), go for walks, and hang out with our friends at establishments that serve beer and buffalo wings.

A Little About Leslie:
I'm Leslie - a lifelong Boilermaker, book worm, kitty mommy, and lover of all things carpentry related. I graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Management. I miss Purdue a lot, but luckily I was able to stay an extra year after graduation by working there. I grew up helping my dad on all of his carpentry projects, and love doing that kind of thing at our own house. I love to play music on our green piano, although the pets do not like the noise very much. I'm obsessed with old movies - mostly movie musicals (has anyone seen Meet Me in St. Louis? It's my favorite) and I enjoy reading old books. Some of the things I love most about living in our house are taking walks in our neighborhood, visiting the library, and watching movies from our big, comfy couch!
A Little About Jeremy:
Welp, I'm Jeremy. I graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Building Construction Management and really loved my time there. It wasn't just loads of fun, but it also prepared me for the great job I now have with a contractor here in Indianapolis and, at least partially, for remodeling houses. I really enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, and all those other outdoorsy type things. Some of the best times of my life have been either fishing in Canada with my family or paddling around Quetico with groups of friends from school. I also really like being lazy and sitting at home watching movies, reading, listening to music, or playing video games (I built a gaming PC in June of 2012 and a cool desk to go with it!). And, in case my interests don't seem varied enough already, I love cooking, baking, and gardening and really enjoy sharing some of the food we make. A few of my favorite things about our house are the big TV upstairs with adjacent beer fridge, the huge garage filled with power tools, and the patio out back where my grill and smoker live.
A Little About Owen:
I'm Owen, the newest member of the Miller household. I came along on July 4th, 2018 and, while I may be little, but I've got a big personality and love my mommy and daddy so much. :)
A Little About Frank:
We got Frank from the local animal shelter back in 2013. He's our big boy and is always in the mood for tummy rubs or a drink of milk. He is all about the naps and especially loves sleeping at the foot of the guest bed or curling up in Jeremy's sink. Frank has the biggest eyes and most expressive face of any cat we've ever had. He also loves to eat and is quite large, which makes his little head and squeaky meow all the more hilarious. But he'll always be our little guy - just look at that face!
A Little About Leo:
Our puppy dog is Leo, an English Shepherd. They're fantastic dogs - very smart, hardworking, and loyal. We got Leo right around Christmas of 2013 from a local breeder that came highly recommended from a friend. They matched us with Leo out of the nine puppies in the litter by doing a temperament test that showed he would fit in with our lifestyle. And what a wonderful match they made! Leo loves to run around the back yard with us, go for walks, play frisbee, and (most of all) snuggle up with us. He's just the sweetest dog and even Leslie, who was and still is not in any way a dog person, can't stand the thought of not having him around.
A Little About Luna:
So that should give you a little insight to us and our lives. We'll try to keep this blog up to date as much as we can so you can know what's going on with us and perhaps you'll see something that you like or inspires you to try something new. Thanks for reading and we'll see ya around!

A Little About Luna:
Somehow our ability to pick out the best pets is still going strong. Luna is an amazing little girl and fits into the family perfectly. She came to us in April of 2017 from an area shelter by way of PetSmart and has adjusted to family life perfectly. She loves playing with Frank (even if he doesn't always appreciate it and would like to go back to sleep thank you very much) and likes attacking Leo's tail anytime he walks by. She's pretty independent and loves to go off exploring, but still comes up for cuddles quite frequently and sleeps on our bed every night. She's perfectly rounds off our pet family and we're so glad we were able to rescue her.
