Remember when we talked about redoing our closet a long time ago? It's been a good while since we removed the old stuff and patched and painted. And it's been even longer since Leslie had clothes in there - since we installed the overhead light fixtures! But finally, after having a bare closet for so long, we finally have it done! Well, at least mostly.
We used the Easy Track system from Menards and it turned out great. They have a lot of pre-configured designs, but we're too cool for that. We laid out a custom pattern of shelves, drawers, and rods to maximize our closet space. This includes two corner units, two stacks of drawers, three closet rods, and a lot of shelving space for shoes, boxes, and baskets. We also added a few features like a tie rack and a sliding rod for temporarily hanging clothes.
One thing that did add some time to this project (besides Menards being slow to get our order in) was that we didn't use the standard Easy Track shelves. They make shelves to go with their sets... but they're really expensive and we needed some custom lengths anyway. So we purchased some lengths of bull-nose shelving that Menards also sells and had to rip it and cut it to the proper sizes. The colours match so closely that it isn't noticeable and it probably saved us a couple hundred dollars.
Leslie also picked out some nice hampers from Bed Bath & Beyond, so now our dirty items can be somewhat sorted and ready for washing. We've also got a few other accessories we'd like to add - Leslie wants some baskets to put stuff in, especially along the top shelf; I want a box to sit above my drawers for my watches, wallet, keys, etc.; and we would like to replace all our mismatched plastic hangers with nice wooden ones, just to bring the whole thing together and make it look even sharper. But those aren't a huge deal and we'll just have to get to them when we have the time and funds. The important thing is that our clothes aren't spread over four different rooms any longer. And thank goodness for that!

So ... it looks like Jeremy has 2 shelves for shoes and Leslie has 5. Yep, that's about right. mtm
