Blinds and a Table

We finally took the extra slats off the blinds! This was such an easy thing to do, and we should have done it from the very beginning, but hindsight is 20/20. Now we know how to do it, so when we hang more of these "cut to size" instead of more expensive custom blinds we can get them finished right away!

First, we had to let the blinds hang down all the way, and then figure out how many slats we wanted removed. We cut a few strings, and removed the extra slats. Then we had to feed the new ends of the strings through the bottom slat, tie some knots and add a plug. Really, that was about all there was to it. Easy enough that even a cat can do it!

We've also added another nice touch to the family room! We got this console table on Amazon and it fits in the room really nicely. It sits against the wall behind the sofa, between the coat closet and the kitchen. Jeremy put it together last weekend and then we picked out a lamp from HomeGoods to put on it. We added a gold leaf plate that we had at the apartment and hope to add some baskets for storage on the bottom shelf. It definitely adds something to the family room - I think we're almost ready to call this finished! (Just have to get Jeremy his big comfy chair.)
