Stairwell to Heaven - Part 2

This past weekend we were able to get the upstairs hall and stairwell painted. It was a lot of work, but it's nice to have it done. Leslie had picked out a light grey colour, so that meant we had to prime over the existing blue paint and then put two coats on top of that. But at least now we're done and probably won't be painting again for a little while.

We used the platform I built before so we could get the extension ladder up the wall to cut in from the ceiling and then were able to roll the walls using a pole. There was a lot of edging to be done in the hall since we had to go around all the door frames, so that added some time too. But it all went pretty well and between the two of us we managed to get all three coats, along with setup and clean up, done in a total of about nine hours. So not too bad.

We also put new faceplates on all the light switches and outlets, put in a new smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector, and cleaned the return grille. It's amazing how much a fresh coat of paint, new light fixtures, and little things like outlet covers bring a room (or hall) together. It's really great to have this finished because we're hoping to get overhead lights up in the stairwell and bedrooms later this month. But that's another post...

Thanks for reading!
